Tenute Mannino
Sicily (Etna)
Nerello Mascalese
2019
A single-vineyard expression of one site, one place - for terroir lovers, this is the point. The Vasadonna cru comes from extraordinary pre-phylloxera vines ages 100-120 years. These ungrafted roots offer a compelling transmission of terroir and remarkable depth. Aged 24 months in French tonneau, notes of cherry fruit are layered with a striking flinty edge supported with a graceful, savoury frame. Exceptionally rare and unmistakably Etna.
Tenute Mannino brings centuries of Sicilian winemaking heritage to life on the north side of Mount Etna, working with ancient vines and sustainable practices. Their wines showcase the volcanic soils and high-altitude vineyards, producing wines that are vibrant, refined, and expressive. Small-lot production ensures every bottle tells the story of Etna’s landscape and history.
93 Points – Decanter: “Balsamic herbs and floral overtones mingle with sour cherry, raspberry and pomegranate scents. In the mouth it has nice texture and a bright line of acidity, carrying blood orange, lime zest, pomegranate and red cherry.”
91 Points - James Suckling: “A richer style of Etna rosso from very old vines. Aromas of dried strawberries, caramel and some smoke follow through to a medium body with depth and intensity. Plenty of fruit. Drink or hold.”
